This is a one day workshop focusing on techniques for managing challenging behaviors in a healthcare facility that may result from a disaster response.
A catastrophic event involving your facility will create a unique set of circumstances for your staff. This in turn, will cause challenging behavior on many levels.
The following are people who can, and will, present challenging behavior post an event:
• Families of victims who are alive and dead
• Survivors of the incident who may be patients
• Staff members who may have been directly affected by the incident
• Staff members who may be secondarily affected - Family member involved
The University of Tennessee and SAC International have developed a revolutionary training system that will greatly enhance your staff’s ability to manage challenging behaviors caused by a catastrophic event. We have successfully implemented our system with the FBI’s Victim Assistance Rapid Deployment Teams and over 20,000 healthcare professionals working in the UK’s National Health Service.
Our unique, groundbreaking training:
• Equips your staff with real skills for managing the behavioral challenges that accompany the
unique dynamics of a catastrophic event
• Provides a safer working environment for all concerned
• Furnishes individuals with the necessary skills to better manage the effects of stress caused
by the challenging behavior they will face post an incident
• Can result in decreased cases of malevolent suit
• Minimizes staff absence after an incident does occur
It is important to note that the skills practiced during our training will also equip your staff to better manage the challenging behavior they face from patients, relatives and colleagues on a daily basis.
