Technical Level Goal The course is designed for professionals who work with children. The goals is to provide them with the required training for Universal Precautions. Intended Audience The intended audience for the course are child care providers, bus drivers, janitorial staff, and anyone else who may come into contact with bodily fluids or blood in the course of their work in a childcare environment. Length The length of time for participants to take this course is estimated to be 1 hour. Course Content There are four sections in this course: - Section 1: Introduction - Section 2: How Germs Spread - Section 3: How You Can Protect Yourself and Others - Section 4: Child Care Business Policy and Practice Course Objectives After completing this course, you will be able to: - Describe the importance of Universal Precautions - Describe where germs are commonly located in a childcare environment - Describe how germs are spread - Distinguish between risky and non-risky activities - Describe measures to take to prevent germs from spreading - Describe measures to protect yourself and others from hazardous germs - Describe what measure to take if you or another employee are exposed to hazardous germs - Describe what is required in an exposure control plan
