Goal/ Intended Audience Health care professionals, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, are mandatory reporters. This means that any suspected child abuse or abuse of a dependent adult must be formally reported to law authorities. This presentation discusses the legal statutes covering child and dependent adult abuse, as well as what to look for when abuse is suspected. This presentation is part of a course all health care professionals by law must complete when interacting with patients. After viewing this presentation, one will be able to more clearly determine what is and is not abuse, and what to do when abuse is suspected.
