Navigation Directions
The information below will help you navigate through the risk assessment. As noted on the previous page there are three main sections (Natural Hazards, Human-Caused Hazards, and Technological/Accidental Hazards).
There is also a glossary of terms and issues to consider provided, just click the "Glossary" icon or click on the "Things to Consider" icon to access either page.
Before the assessment begins, once you click the "Next" button below, you will be asked a few short questions. Please answer, then click “Submit.” You will then be asked to enter your County name, type your county name in the box provided, click “Submit” and then the assessment will begin.
You can return to the "Home" page at any time by clicking the "Home" Up arrow - this is provided on the bottom right of every page.
You can start the assessment and return at a different time, but to complete the assessment all three sections and hazards within those sections need to be completed. If you come to a hazard that doesn't apply, simply answer "N/A" to the questions as this will apply a score of "0" and move on to the next hazard.
Saving:
After you answer a question, please click “Submit” to save your answers and to move forward. At the end of each hazard, you will be given a risk score for that specific hazard. While your individual answers are always saved as soon as you click submit, it is important to click the “Save Scores” button at the end of each hazard in order to mark it off as completed, and to move on to the next hazard.
Bookmarking:
If you cannot complete the assessment in one sitting and need to come back, you can bookmark a page, at any time, by clicking the “bookmark this page” link in the User bookmarks block on the right. However, the system will also remember the last page, within a hazard, that you visited before leaving, if you go back to that same hazard later.
When you return to the assessment, make sure you are on the Course Home page and simply click on the section you were working on.

It will open to a list of all the hazards in that section. When you complete a hazard, the system will place a check mark next to each one you have completed, to pick up where you left off, simply start at the hazard that is not check off and proceed as you have done. You can also use this as a way to check your progress.
Warning: Please only use the back arrow, if you need to change your previous answer. Once you click “Submit” your answers will be saved, but you cannot view them. If you click the back arrow, this will allow you to overwrite your previous answer.
Reports:
To check your Risk Score or Summary Reports: When you have completed a hazard, before moving on to the next hazard, it will display a risk score for that individual hazard. When you have completed each section, you will be given an Averages and Summary report for each of the three sections. After all three sections have been completed; you will be directed to an “All Hazards” Summary. You can also return to the course homepage and click the section you want to see by choosing one of the three sections and selecting the "Averages and Summary" link or if you have completed the entire assessment, click on the "Summary" icon to see your "All Hazards" summary report. All of these can be saved as PDF file.
